Quick Overview

Clams are a beautiful addition to any reef aquarium.  They are rich in color with beautiful markings.  Clams can move themselves around in the sand bed of your aquarium and will attach themselves using their "foot".  Extra caution must be used when removing them from the sand bed as not to damage the "foot".

About Maxima Clams

Clams In Captivity

Reef Keeping Information

Clams are a beautiful addition to any reef tank.  They are moderately hardy and require expert care and pristine water quality in a well established reef tank.  Maxima Clams are very sensitive to any change in water parameters.  Butterfly Fish, Clown Gobies, Blennies, Shrimp and Angel Fish may attack these Clams.  These Clams should not be kept with these kinds of fish in a Marine Aquarium.

Lighting

Strong/Fairly Intense - These Clams do well  under Metal Halide, VHO or LED lighting.  The coloration of the Clam can change depending upon lighting conditions.

Handling Clams

Clams should not be handled except for placing in aquarium or moving them in an aquarium.  They have a "foot" at the bottom that they attach themselves with.  Extra care and caution should be used when moving the Clam so the "foot" of the Clam is not ripped.
